Collect video submissions from your learners

Send your learners a link and ask them to explain it out loud or show you how they'd do it. They record in their browser within a time limit you set, and each video comes straight to you.

Have a go with your own camera in the demo. Nothing is uploaded. Sign-up opens soon.

The usual trouble

Why video assignments are a chore to collect

How it works

From setting the task to watching the answers

  1. 01

    Set the task

Write what you'd like them to explain or show, and choose a time limit. The link's end date works as the deadline.

  2. 02

Share the link with the group

Post it wherever your course lives, or email it. Learners record on a phone or computer, with no app to install and no account to create.

  3. 03

    Watch each one

We email you as videos arrive. Watch them in your dashboard and download any you need for your records.

What to ask

Video prompts that show what someone has learned

Ask for something a written answer can't give you: an explanation in their own words, or the skill itself.

Explain it

  • Explain this week's idea as you would to a new colleague.
  • What's the most common mistake here, and how do you avoid it?
  • Give one example from your own work.

Show it

  • Show us how you'd do it, from start to finish.
  • Talk us through your work as you point the camera at it.
  • Introduce yourself in the language you're learning.

Reflect on it

  • What did you find hardest, and what helped?
  • What will you do differently after this module?
  • What would you like more practice with?

A request you could copy

This is what goes into a link: a title, and what you'd like them to say. Change the words to sound like you.

Module 3: explain it in your own words
What you're asking for
For this task, explain the main idea from this module as you would to a new colleague, and give one example from your own work. You have 90 seconds, so there's no need for an introduction. You can record as many times as you like before you send it. Please add your name so we know whose it is.

Settings

Setting a link up for a task

You make these choices for each link. Here is where we'd start.

Time limit
90 secondsEnough to explain one idea or show one short skill. The same limit for everyone keeps it fair.
Video shape
Any shapeLet each learner record on whatever they have. Ask for landscape if they're showing something on a table or a workbench.
Expires after
14 daysUse the end date as your deadline. The link stops taking videos when it runs out.
Max recordings
No maximumLeave it open for a group. Set it to 1 for a resit, or for a link meant for one learner.

On their side

What your learners see

A video of someone's face and voice is about as personal as data gets, so we're careful with it at every step.

  • Nothing to installThe link opens in the browser on their phone or computer. They don't need an app or an account.
  • They agree before the camera turns onWe tell them who will receive the video and how long it's kept, and ask them to agree, before anything is switched on.
  • They see the clockThe recorder counts down and stops by itself at the limit, so everyone gets the same time.
  • They can try againThey watch their video back and can record it again as often as they like. You only receive the one they choose to send.

Which plan

Start small and move up when you need to

Starter£9 a month plus tax

5 videos a month and one active link, which suits one-to-one coaching or a very small group.

Pro£19 a month plus tax

25 videos a month and 5 active links, so each task can have its own link. A bigger group needs a Business plan.

You can change plan or cancel at any time. See everything each plan includes

Questions

Before you set your first task

Do learners need to install anything?

No. The link opens in the browser on their phone or computer. They don't need an app or an account.

Can a learner go over the time limit?

No. The recorder shows a countdown and stops by itself when the limit is reached.

Can they record again?

Yes, as often as they like before sending. You only receive the one they choose.

Can they share their screen?

No. ClipStation records the camera and microphone. To show something, they can hold it up or point the camera at it.

Does the link work as a deadline?

Yes. Every link has an end date and stops accepting videos once it passes. Videos already sent stay in your dashboard.

What if the group is bigger than my allowance?

When you reach your monthly allowance the link stops accepting videos until the allowance resets or you move to a larger plan. We email you when you're getting close, and nothing you've already received is affected.

How long are submissions kept?

30 days on Starter and 90 on Pro, counted from when each video arrives. You can delete any of them sooner, and download any you want to keep.

The demo takes you through it with your own camera: writing the request, recording as a learner would, and watching the video arrive. Nothing is uploaded and you don't need an account.
