For hiring

Collect video introductions from candidates

Send applicants a link and ask them to introduce themselves in a minute or so. They record in their browser when it suits them, and you've met them a little before the first interview.

Have a go with your own camera in the demo. Nothing is uploaded. Sign-up opens soon.

The usual trouble

Why the first round takes so long

How it works

From shortlist to first impressions

  1. 01

    Write your request

Say what you'd like to hear about and set a time limit. Ask everyone the same thing, so you're comparing like with like.

  2. 02

Send the link to your shortlist

Put it in your reply to their application. They open it on a phone or computer and record when it suits them, with no app to install and no account to create.

  3. 03

    Watch them when you're ready

We email you as each one arrives. Watch them in your dashboard in one sitting, then decide who to invite in.

What to ask

Questions to ask candidates on video

One or two is enough. This is a first impression, so keep the harder questions for when you meet.

About them

  • Introduce yourself in a minute.
  • What are you looking for in your next job?
  • What's a piece of work you're proud of?

About the role

  • What made you apply for this one?
  • What would you want to do first if you joined us?
  • Which part of the job would you most enjoy?

How they work

  • Tell us about a time something went wrong, and what you did.
  • How do you like to be managed?
  • Describe a good day at work.

A request you could copy

This is what goes into a link: a title, and what you'd like them to say. Change the words to sound like you.

Title
Introduce yourself
What you're asking for
Thanks for applying. Before we arrange interviews, we'd like to put a face to your application. Please tell us a little about yourself and what made you apply. Ninety seconds is plenty, and there's no need to prepare anything polished. Add your name before you send it. If you'd rather not record a video, reply to our email and we'll find another way.

Settings

Setting a link up for a vacancy

You make these choices for each link. Here is where we'd start.

Time limit
90 secondsLong enough to say who you are and why you applied. Everyone gets the same limit.
Video shape
Any shapeThese are for you to watch, so let each person record however their phone or laptop is set up.
Expires after
14 daysSet it to match your closing date. The link stops taking videos when it runs out.
Max recordings
No maximumLeave it open for a link that goes to the whole shortlist. Set it to 1 for a link meant for one candidate.

On their side

What a candidate sees

A video of someone's face and voice is about as personal as data gets, so we're careful with it at every step.

  • Nothing to installThe link opens in the browser on their phone or computer. They don't need an app or an account.
  • They agree before the camera turns onWe tell them who will receive the video and how long it's kept, and ask them to agree, before anything is switched on.
  • They can try againThey watch their video back and can record it again as often as they like. You only receive the one they choose to send.
  • They can check their camera and microphoneBefore recording they choose which camera and microphone to use, and can see that the microphone is picking them up.

Which plan

Start small and move up when you need to

Starter£9 a month plus tax

5 videos a month and one active link, which is enough for the shortlist for a single role.

Pro£19 a month plus tax

25 videos a month and 5 active links, so several vacancies can each have their own.

Questions

Before you send it to your shortlist

Do candidates need to install anything?

No. The link opens in the browser on their phone or computer. They don't need an app or an account.

Is this a video interview?

It's shorter than that. A candidate answers a question or two in their own time, within the limit you set, and you watch it later. Nobody is on a live call.

How long can an introduction be?

You set the limit for each link, from 30 seconds up to 90 seconds on Starter and 3 minutes on Pro. The recorder counts down and stops by itself when the time is up.

Can they record again if it goes badly?

Yes, as often as they like before sending. You only receive the one they choose.

What happens when the link expires?

It stops accepting new videos. The ones you've already received stay in your dashboard until they're due to be deleted.

What if more people reply than my plan allows?

When you reach your monthly allowance the link stops accepting videos until the allowance resets or you move to a larger plan. We email you when you're getting close, and nothing you've already received is affected.

How long do you keep candidates' videos?

30 days on Starter and 90 on Pro, counted from when each video arrives. You can delete any of them sooner, and download any you want to keep.

See what a candidate would see

The demo takes you through it with your own camera: writing the request, recording as a candidate would, and watching the video arrive. Nothing is uploaded and you don't need an account.

We use Google Analytics cookies to see how people find and use this site, so we can improve it. Nothing about the videos people record is shared. More detail.
